Éditions de Parfums Frédéric Malle
Frédéric Malle grew up in the world of perfume and followed the scented path of his grandfather, who founded a large perfumery, and a mother who was a fragrance creator. In 2000, he launched his own perfumery based on a very original model, inspired by that of publishing houses. He contacted independent perfumers and gave them carte blanche to create fragrances which, for once, broke away from marketing diktats. The freedom granted to creators allows them to develop their own style and get creative, thus guiding them to the very pinnacle of their art. By creating remarkable, artistic fragrances, the Maison became one of the greats.
After a handful of insiders, more and more people were charmed by these niche fragrances, with scents being created by prestigious noses: Edmond Roudnitska, Olivia Giacobetti, Jean-Claude Ellena, Dominique Ropion, and Pierre Bourdon. Collections for the body and home have since been developed also. In 2015, Estée Lauder acquired Éditions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, but its founder remains at the helm of the company.
Éditions de Parfums Frédéric Malle became a Comité Colbert member in 2007.
Its signature
Portrait of a Lady. And the fragrance created the woman.
It took several months for Dominique Ropion and Frédéric Malle to create this portrait.
They dared to do the unthinkable: invent a new kind of oriental fragrance. This sumptuous fragrance expresses its potency with the contrasts of Turkish rose, frankincense, patchouli, and sandalwood. Portrait of a Lady is an ode to the universal beauty shared by women.
Created in 2010, it remains an iconic fragrance by Éditions de Parfums Frédéric Malle.
